WALLS, Miss., Oct. 18, 2021 – Astoria Development, LLC today announced the start of construction of 49 single-family homes in Phase B of the Mallard Park subdivision in Walls, Mississippi. To mark this milestone, Walls’ Mayor Kiedron Henderson and Astoria Development executives will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at 11:00 this morning at the Mallard Park site on Lakeside Circle West.

Development choosing to invest in our community and our people,” said Mayor Henderson. “Walls has great schools, new retail shopping areas, and a number of companies moving into the region. These things make our city a very attractive option for families seeking a better quality of life.”
The new construction represents the first homes in Mallard Park since Phase A was completed in 2019. Phase B homes are slated for completion by the third quarter of 2022. Construction of Phase C, which includes 27 homes, will commence in the second quarter of 2022 and be completed within the following
12 months. All homes in these phases will range in size from 1,950 to 2,200 square feet and feature 4 or 5 bedrooms to accommodate today’s hybrid work and home-office lifestyles. The homes will also feature large outdoor spaces for entertaining and either lake or greenbelt views.
New phases to help the city of Walls meet demand for new housing
Phase A of Mallard Park, consisting of 143 single-family homes, was primarily built in the early to mid2000s. Development and construction in the area was largely halted after the Great Recession began in 2008; the final 45 homes in Phase A were completed in 2019. The recovery of the economy has spurred development in the area to take advantage of Walls’ proximity to employment in Memphis, Horn Lake, and Tunica.
